Welcome to my headphone review site!  This site was designed for one purpose and one purpose alone: to provide ordinary people with necessary and comprehensive information on the different types of headphones available, as well as, unbiased, objective reviews on some of the various headphone brands that are on the market. My goal is to help you make an educated choice based on your preferences and to help you get your money’s worth with your purchase. After all, these are challenging economic times and we all want to make sure we get the most out of every cent that we spend.

Unlike other headphone review sites, this website is distinct in that we skip the complex technical jargon and present the reviews to you in such a manner that makes you feel like you are having a casual conversation with a friend. We also provide detailed descriptions of the featured headphones; with regard to both physical and technical features. Clear photos of each featured headphone can also be found on the site. The goal of headphonereview.org is not to overwhelm you with technical terms but to speak to you in a language that you can easily comprehend and make a wise decision based on the solid information that you find here.

Different Types of Headphones

First off, there are three main types available. These include in-ear, on-ear and over-ear headphones.

 

In-ear Headphones

In-ear headphones are very convenient to own as they are extremely portable.  They can fit into your purse, pocket, glove compartment and even your make-up kit.  They can either rest in the outer part of the ear or be inserted into the ear canal.  They are suitable for use in physically intensive scenarios such as working out at the gym, while out on a run, or even while climbing a mountain.  One great example is the Bose IE2 earphones.

On-ear Headphones

On-ear headphones do not cover the entire ear and are typically covered with foam or some other type of cushion.  Ambient noise can still be heard even while wearing these earphones given that they do not encompass the entire ear, but they provide good quality sound nonetheless.  Check out the Beats by Dr. Dre Solo to get a better idea of what these on-ear headphones look, feel and sound like.

Over-ear Headphones

Lastly, over-ear headphones like the Grado Prestige Series SR80i cover the entire ear and usually block out most ambient noise.  Given the size and bulk of these earphones, they are a more appropriate choice for usage while sitting down, lounging on an airplane ride, or laying down in the hammock in your backyard at home.  Over-ear headphones are preferential if your goal is to escape the frantic world around you even if for a just few minutes and drown it all out with the music in your ears.
